Oregon 55, Arizona 45

EUGENE, Ore. - Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops emerged from the Wildcats' locker room for interviews with the media, leaned against the wall and shamefully put his head down.
Having just seen Arizona lose 55-45 to Oregon in Autzen Stadium, Stoops was almost speechless when he was approached.

The Arizona club hockey team outplayed its opponent Saturday, but the inability to finish resulted in a 3-2 loss against Colorado in a shootout and another winless weekend at the Tucson Convention Center.

NCAA basketball season kicks off with 3-point line adjustment

The Arizona men's basketball team is adjusting to all the changes this season one step at a time. More literally in some cases.
When Arizona opens up its 2008-09 campaign against Florida Atlantic in the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tipoff tonight at 9 in McKale Center, the Wildcats will have to adjust to the new NCAA 3-point line, which has been moved from 19 feet, 9 inches, to 20 feet, 9 inches.
USC Trojans sink Wildcats; women recoup at UCLA

Numbers would indicate that the No. 2 men's and No. 4 women's swim and dive teams returned from their California visit Saturday with a mixed bag of success, as the women's team split in meets with USC and UCLA, and the men's team lost to USC.
The women's team was upset by the Trojans in Los Angeles on Friday 164-136, but regrouped Saturday, beating the UCLA Bruins 157-121.

The Arizona volleyball team went 0-for-2 in Los Angeles this weekend.
On Friday, the Wildcats lost to No. 10 USC (16-8, 9-6 Pacific 10 Conference) by set scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-16. They wiped their slate clean the following night to battle No. 9 UCLA (18-8, 8-7) but ended with the same 0-3 outcome with slightly different scores (25-17, 25-18, 25-22).

The Arizona women's basketball team returns to Tucson as champions of the Bank of Hawaii Invitational Tournament.
The Wildcats (2-1) were crowned champions in Hilo, Hawaii, after winning a tiebreaker - determined by least points allowed - by two points over Loyola Marymount (2-1) and Toledo (0-3), both of whom Arizona beat this weekend.

Coach says all of his players will be eligible tonight

UA interim head coach Russ Pennell completely denied a recent story that some of his players could be ineligible for tonight's opener due to an NCAA investigation.
Andy Katz of ESPN.com reported Friday that Arizona may face six ineligible players for receiving excess expenses while participating in the Arizona Cactus Classic, an AAU tournament, in McKale Center from 2006-08.
